About Me...
My name is Sydney Dovi. I am 21 years old and currently studying at both the University of Delaware and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, New York.

In a Creative and Technical Design Studio course, I was given the assignment to create a skirt with at least one functional pocket. Instead of opting to incorporate the recommended designs of pockets we had previously practiced and learned, I developed an original pocket pattern. I wanted to challenge myself. I not only pushed my artistic boundaries but also my physical abilities to develop a new and innovative pattern. Throughout this process, I endured the frustrations of trial and error. I went through many measurements to make certain the pocket I produced was large enough to provide a unique design aesthetic, yet not too large to affect movement and functionality. In the end, I was proud I had taken the long, more difficult route. My skirt’s details did not resemble any others that stood beside it, and it exceeded my expectations.
Though this is a minor example, it reveals the mindset I often embrace when faced with the adversity of any task. Even throughout the smallest of projects, I portray my values of determination, creativity, and strength. I have gained these virtues through constant adversity, and beyond that, I have grown to be independent, free-spirited, and adaptable. My creative thinking and the aspirations I wish to achieve are fueled by these same values and characteristics in which I define myself. They also encourage me to always hold myself to the highest of standards, never being one to restrain my potential.

When it comes to my future, I have ten different paths within the industry I can see myself leading. Under the umbrella of merchandising I wish to lead a professional life in fashion editorial, event directing, digital marketing, or trend analyzing. What ever it is I end up doing, I know I will succeed and work my hardest to fulfill my potential as a creative individual.
